About me
Infrastructure by profession. Photography and agriculture by passion.
I’m Ahmed Giwa, an environmentalist, water & wastewater utility leader, and photographer with more than 25 years of professional experience across North America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
My career has focused on leading and improving water and wastewater utility operations through a combination of field experience, asset management, GIS, data analytics, and practical technology. I currently serve as a Water & Wastewater Manager in North America, with responsibility for improving operational efficiency, reducing Non-Revenue Water, strengthening metering and customer service, and supporting better decision-making through reliable data and performance analysis.
A significant part of my career has been dedicated to wastewater collection systems. I have managed and supported large systems across New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey, with experience in operations and maintenance, risk-based asset management, CCTV inspection, infiltration and inflow reduction, smart sewer monitoring, IoT technologies, and GIS-based decision support.
My broader professional background also includes infrastructure, renewable energy, and geospatial technology, giving me a strong appreciation for the relationship between infrastructure, the environment, technology, and the communities they serve.
Outside of my professional work, I have a strong passion for photography and agriculture. Photography gives me the opportunity to observe and document people, places, architecture, infrastructure, culture, and the environment from a different perspective. My interest in agriculture is rooted in sustainability, food production, livestock, and the role that innovation and better management can play in strengthening communities and improving the future of food.
These interests reflect the way I see the world: through people, infrastructure, the environment, and the systems that support everyday life.
